Walk the Future

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Walk the Future is a local project implemented as part of the European Solidarity Corps by an initiative group of young people (Tomek, Pola, Kinga, Kuba, Gabi) who want to create valuable activities for their community and amplify the voice of young people on important social issues. The project was created for young people aged 13-19 from Jedlnia-Letnisko and surrounding towns, particularly those who have less access to modern, engaging non-formal education and are less likely to participate in initiatives developing future-ready skills.

The project is led by the initiative group, a team of young people who recognized the need to create a space for conversation, reflection, and collaborative action around topics important to their generation. They co-create the idea, engage in organizing activities, and want to demonstrate that young people from smaller towns can also have a real impact on their communities. The group operates under the auspices of the My Future Foundation, which supports the project organizationally, formally, and substantively, sharing their experience in youth work and non-formal education. As part of the project, young people will participate in interactive decision-making walks – a modern method combining movement, non-formal education, and experiential learning.

During the walks, participants will face realistic scenarios, make decisions, discuss diverse perspectives, and collaborate on solutions to topics such as ecology, social responsibility, human rights, relationships, solidarity, and civic engagement.

The project addresses the needs of both young people who already want to participate in social activities and those who are just finding their space to develop, speak up, and build relationships with others.

Walk the Future is:

  • a space created by young people for young people, based on collaboration and mutual learning
  • developing future-oriented skills: critical thinking, communication, cooperation, and decision-making
  • strengthening a sense of agency and courage to act for the benefit of their community
  • promoting solidarity, civic engagement, and responsibility for the world around us
  • showing that even a small local initiative can lead to real change

Why is it important?
Many young people from smaller towns still have limited access to activities that are modern, engaging, and truly meet their needs. They often lack a space where they can safely express their opinions, learn through practice, and experience that their voices matter. Walk the Future addresses this gap by giving young people the opportunity to actively participate in a project that not only develops skills but also builds responsibility, relationships, and a sense of influence.
What makes the project unique is its youth-focused nature—it was initiated and co-created by a group of young people who best understand the challenges of their generation. Thanks to the support of the My Future Foundation, their idea can be implemented in a safe, high-quality manner and in line with the values of solidarity, cooperation, and inclusion.
