Future of Career

Young people learned to choose a career in harmony with themselves

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Future of Career – Through the Eyes of Youth project, implemented by the My Future Foundation, demonstrated that young people want and can actively co-create solutions for their professional future. The project focused on strengthening competencies for entering the labor market and on creating a genuine space for dialogue among young people, employers, and decision-makers.

As part of the project, young people from Poland and Portugal participated in a research process and a series of workshops on topics such as writing CVs and cover letters, building LinkedIn profiles, understanding recruitment processes, and the barriers young people face at the beginning of their careers. The work was based on non-formal education methods – participants worked in teams, learned critical thinking, communication, and public speaking, and tested their skills in job interview simulations and an assessment center.

A key element of the project was youth mobility in Poland and Portugal, during which participants deepened their skills, worked in international teams, and co-created recommendations for a more youth-friendly labor market. For many, this was their first exposure to topics such as assessment centers and professional self-presentation. This experience significantly increased their self-confidence and readiness to take on professional challenges.

The activities culminated in national dialogue events (Youth Participation Events) in Poland and Portugal, which gathered over 200 participants. During these events, young people presented their research findings, shared their experiences, and engaged in direct dialogue with employers, entrepreneurs, and decision-makers. This provided a space for open discussion where young people could ask questions, formulate proposals, and truly influence adults’ thinking about young people’s entry into the labor market.

One of the project’s lasting outcomes was the Future of Career e-guide – a practical educational resource developed based on workshops, research, and the participants’ experiences. The publication provides specific tips on how to take your first steps in the job market, prepare application documents and understand recruitment processes, and is available free of charge to young people, schools and organisations.
