Aware & Active
A project that empowered young leaders in the fight against disinformation and strengthened their leadership potential
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Aware & Active was an international project of the My Future Foundation, implemented under the Erasmus+ program in collaboration with partners from Spain and Hungary. The project took place in November in Seville and brought together young leaders from Poland, Spain, and Hungary to develop critical thinking, media awareness, and active citizenship.
The project aimed to empower young people to recognize and counter disinformation and fake news, as well as equip them with tools and methods to inspire their peers to participate consciously in democratic life. Participants learned how to verify information sources, analyze media content, and understand the mechanisms of manipulation in the digital space.
Why was it important? Research shows that disinformation has a real impact on social decisions, levels of trust, and the quality of democracy—especially among young people who interact daily in the world of social media. Aware & Active practically addressed this problem, combining media education with action and real influence.
During the project, participants participated in workshops, simulations, debates, project work, and hackathons, during which they created their own social campaigns, local initiatives, and ideas for educational activities against fake news. The project also strengthened leadership skills, international cooperation, and a sense of empowerment—showing that young people can and should have a voice in public affairs.
Aware & Active was a space for safe dialogue, diversity, and mutual learning. The project not only increased participants’ knowledge but, above all, motivated them to continue to act as informed, active citizens in their local communities.
