Mindful Career Path
Young people learned to choose a career in harmony with themselves
ABOUT THE PROJECT
The Mindful Career Path project, implemented by the My Future Foundation, was an international Erasmus+ project that took place in Poland in February. Forty-five young people from Poland, Portugal, and Lithuania participated, supported by youth leaders and a facilitator, creating a 12-day space for reflection on their professional future, values, and well-being.
The project aimed to support young people in making more informed career decisions—based not only on competencies and labor market demands, but also on their own values, needs, and mental health. The project went beyond traditional career counseling, combining the development of career-related skills with reflection on what constitutes a “good job” and how to build a sustainable professional life.
During the project, participants worked on CV creation, interview preparation, and self-presentation, among other things. They also analyzed the influence of external factors—such as social pressure, social media, and peer expectations—on their educational and career choices. Emphasis was placed on work ethic, employers’ environmental responsibility, and the importance of workplaces that support well-being and mental health.
The project was based on non-formal education methods. Participants worked in workshops and in international teams, sharing their experiences and learning to reflect critically on their decisions. A key element was developing self-awareness, recognizing their strengths, and building mental resilience—key competencies in the rapidly changing world of work.
Mindful Career Path created a safe space for conversations about the future, the uncertainty, and the expectations facing young people on the threshold of adulthood. The project demonstrated that career planning can and should consider both professional ambitions and well-being, values, and the need for meaning in work.
