The program of FEP workshops has been created as a part of the Erasmus+ program based on the existing research about formal and non-formal education, as well as implemented pilot projects. During the days 12-15 April 2017 the FEP workshops have been held. Sixty participants from various high schools and vocational schools, based on the skills acquired during the workshops, presented their solutions for the given business challenge from the manager of Decathlon. The challenge: “Present the idea for the product for mothers with kids up to four y.o. Remember that those moms have certain needs. On one hand, they want to take care of their children who just became their priority, on the other hand, they want to come back to shape after pregnancy.”
The dedicated jury have been judging the presentations on the grand finale. Creativity has been one of the key skills taken into consideration. However, other skills judged by the jury has not been the technicality of the product, but the soft skills of the group – such as presentation in public, communication, time management, stress management- which according to the Institute For Educational Research, Warsaw School of Economics, and Ernst & Young are one of the most important criteria used by companies while recruiting graduates.
The jury has selected the group of the winners. Five participants representing various schools:
IV LO im. T. Chałubińskiego, LO im. M. Dąbrowskiej w Pionkach, VI LO im. J. Kochanowskiego, ZSM im. O. Kolberga, KLO im. św F. Neri, flew to Copenhagen in September 2017.
During the trip, the participants had a chance to visit the Polish Embassy, NETS – Danish company whose headquarters are located in one of the most prestigious buildings in Copenhagen, Danish school, where they could get to know Scandinavian approaches to education, visit Right To Dream Academy and Jacob Christensen – 17 y.o. football player who explained why soft skills are helping him in achieving success.
